I have seen a recent mailer sent out by my opponent that twisted facts about me beyond recognition.
During my time on the Greater Albany School Board, two different Superintendents arraigned for Executive Sessions. On two occasions, they incorrectly cited the ORS subsection they believed allowed for the meeting. The entire Board that attended the meeting, not just myself, received "Letters of Education" due to this mistake. No one was charged with a full violation of Public Meeting Law which carries a $1,000 fine.
In 2023, the Legislature changed this entire process and gave Superintendents and City Managers the opportunity to explain their reasoning and make corrections before any action is taken by the State.
Any questions you have I am always glad to answer.
Michael
